“If my children whine and nag at me-say, for a drink-the consequence is that I ignore them. Does this response (from me) fit with your above statement then?”
I’m not sure what you are asking when you write, “Does this response (from me) fit with your above statement then?” I do find your statement, “… the consequence is that I ignore them.”, interesting. As it stands, the statement suggests that this behaviour, ignoring, is something that you will do each time your children whine and nag – predetermined behaviour with respect to your childrens’ communication. Hmmm… do you know what comes to mind? If you were a professional tennis player… no, that wouldn’t work… if you’re outcome was to become a professional tennis player by using predetermined moves in your game all of your opponents would pick up your limited pattern, unconsciously, in maybe, ooh, five minutes, and you would never become a professional tennis player.
Does this work for you?
All the best,
